Prof. Dr. Isabell M. Welpe holds the Chair for Strategy and Organization at the Technical University of Munich, Germany and is Academic Director of the Bavarian State Institute for Higher Education Research and Planning (IHF).
Her research interests are in strategy and leadership, future concepts of work and organizations, diversity with a focus on women in leadership positions in the STEM and tech industries, impact of digital technologies and social media as well as strategic innovation in new technologies. Furthermore, she is co-founder of the TUM Blockchain Research Cluster. Her research is published in journals such as Journal of Applied Psychology, Journal of Business Economics, Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, Journal of Business Ethics, Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization, and others.
Prof. Welpe studied management at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Munich, Germany and at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Boston, USA. She completed an additional MSc at the London School of Economics before finishing her PhD at the University of Regensburg. She has been a visiting professor at the Keck Graduate Institute, Claremont, USA and a postdoctoral fellow at the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota. Before taking over the Chair for Strategy and Organization at the Technical University of Munich, she worked at the Max Planck Institute for Economics.
Prof. Welpe teaches Leadership, Human Resource Management, and Managing People and Organizations. She has taught on the faculty of Claremont University, EM Lyon, Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität and the University of Berne, Switzerland. She is an editorial board and review member of several academic and professional journals.
